The Last of Us star Bella Ramsey predicts that the second season of the series will premiere in late 2024 or early 2025.
Last week, the first season of the hugely successful HBO series ended, and it looks like we'll have to wait almost two years for a new episode. The Jonathan Ross show (on the website Independent) Ramsey shared news about the filming and possible release dates of the second season of The Last of Us:
It will take some time. I think we will probably start filming at the end of this year, early next year. So it will probably be late 2024, early 2025.
Says Ramsey.
Although it's a bit scary to imagine having to wait so long for a new season, it makes sense from a storyline perspective. After all, The Last of Us Part 2 takes place five years after the events of the first game, which means that both Joel and Ellie have aged significantly in the sequel. The creators of the series recently confirmed that they will not recast Ramsey as Ellie, so this gap in filming will definitely not harm the actor's portrayal of the character.
- Announcement.
As for the plot of the second season, those who have played The Last of Us Part 2 already have a general idea of what to expect, although there is a precedent for quite significant changes compared to the original source. Recently, the creators of The Last of Us spoke about what to expect from the second season, saying that they plan to keep "the soul of that story" while teasing that "there will be blood."
